A Clear Plan for Five Rivers

Five Rivers is growing, and with that growth comes both opportunity and responsibility.

We need leadership that is transparent, accountable, and focused on building a stronger, more unified community—while protecting the services and identity that matter most to residents.

This platform is built on one core principle:

Local government should work for the people—and be accountable to them.

Strengthening Citizen Voice & Participation

Residents deserve more than occasional input—they deserve a consistent, protected voice in local decision-making.

I will work to introduce a Citizen Participation & Accountability Charter that includes:

  • An open forum at every council meeting
  • The ability for residents to speak without unnecessary barriers
  • Clear protections to ensure these rights cannot be easily removed

📌 Your voice shouldn’t depend on who is in power.

Transparency, Accountability & Representation

Trust in local government starts with openness.

I will push for clear rules that ensure:

  • All council decisions—especially discipline or censure—are public, recorded, and fully explained
  • No backroom decisions or silent actions

At the same time, councillors must be free to:

  • Represent their constituents
  • Ask questions and challenge decisions
  • Speak openly and respectfully

📌 Accountability builds trust—and representation should never be restricted.

Community Safety & Emergency Services

Public safety must always come first—and it must remain free from political interference.

I will work to:

  • Establish an independent Community Safety Committee
  • Ensure fire and emergency services are guided by trained professionals
  • Keep council focused on oversight and budgeting—not operations

📌 Public safety decisions should be made in the best interest of the community—not politics.

Begin advocating for regional governance reform

Decisions that impact our community should be accountable to the people who live here.

I will advocate for:

  • An elected Regional Chair for Kent County
  • Greater transparency in regional decision-making
  • Leadership that answers directly to residents

📌 Regional power should come from voters—not appointments.
